AIR AMBULANCE
With our fleet of Sikorsky S-76C+/++ helicopters, outfitted with cutting edge medical interiors and operated by our experienced team of pilots, advanced care paramedics, flight nurses, and respiratory therapists, we can reach patients anywhere to provide them with on-board care.
NVG
Using the latest white phosphor technology, our night vision services are integral to search and rescue efforts, emergency responders, fire fighting, and surveillance. White phosphor allows us to view night scenes in exceptional detail with superior image quality, offering an incredible night vision experience.
Operated by Custom Helicopters, our Labrador fleet is available for a wide variety of services across many industries.
For Women of Aviation Week, we’re pleased to share Megan’s aviation story and the experiences that have shaped her career in this industry.
“I was introduced to aviation through the Air Cadet program. I joined the program when I was 12 and stayed with it until I was 18. I was fortunate to receive my glider pilots license, and private pilot’s license during my time in the program. I was always intrigued by the opportunity and dynamic pace that was offered through the aviation industry; however, I never had intentions of a career in aviation.
Upon graduating high school, I found myself enrolled in flight school. I soon learned that the aviation industry was full of individuals from all backgrounds who care so much about the industry and its wellbeing. It’s an industry where most want to provide a good service, do their best, and do it safely. This is what solidified that a career in aviation was for me in some capacity. This culture has been important to me as it’s a personal value I can share with my employer.
As I gained more exposure to the industry, it provided me insight into what most refer to as “behind the scenes” roles of aviation. Coming from a background of being a pilot, a challenge I have struggled with is that my operational roles are not as important. Now with 15 years of industry experience under my belt, I’ve recognized that these behind-the-scenes roles are just as important as forward-facing roles such as pilots and AMEs. Most operational roles are what propels the business. I take pride in my role and the satisfaction that my efforts and skills are one part of keeping the operation running safely.
If you are questioning if a career in aviation is for you, I’d say stop. Aviation has something for everyone! Get into the industry, keep learning, and see where the wind takes you. To this day, I am not 100 percent sure what prompted me to join the Air Cadet program, but I am forever thankful that I did as it has given me so many opportunities both professionally and personally within the aviation industry.”

Meet Genevieve. From a young age, her curiosity set her on a path defined by adventure, challenge, and discovery. Here’s her story.
“I have always loved to move around, meet new people and discover new territories. I think one of the key moments of my life is, when I was 16, I travelled to Nicaragua for 2 weeks, and lived with a local family there. They were far from rich... I then realized that we are not all born with the same opportunities, that there are so many different ways to live and so many places to see and people to meet. This was the first of many trips; I backpacked my way around Central and South America, Africa, and Asia, visiting over 20 countries. I studied social services in university, and finished the degree, but I needed more - more adventures, more challenges, more travelling. So, at 26 years old I started my career as a helicopter pilot.
The biggest challenge I have overcome is certainly becoming a precision long-liner. It meant long days, working often close to the limits of the aircraft, and it is SOOOO easy to injure someone on the ground if you "mess-up". I am very demanding on myself too. I`ve always wanted things to be perfect. All that to say, I think I lost 15 pounds on my first drill job (over 5 weeks). But you know what they say, the harder the challenge, the most rewarding it can get. There is no better feeling than to become one with your aircraft, as if it was an "extension" of yourself. But yeah, it came with a lot of practice, it was hard but my oh my do I love it!
Also, the coolest thing I have done is a tour in Greenland. This was soooooo remote. Hard to get to... but also rewarding, as it was the most beautiful landscape and scenery I have seen (or flew above).”
